The APMM invites you to join us in the Mile High City to elevate your model making. Two days of workshops will help build your skills and hone your professional practice. Gain insights and inspiration from our Featured Model Maker and Keynote Speaker. Experience tours of working model shops, to see how other professionals organize their spaces, what tools they're using, and many more useful takeaways. Through it all, you'll be building rapport with like-minded professionals from around the country, and indeed, around the world. The internet and social platforms are great for some things, but nothing compares to discussing our craft in-person with other passionate craftspeople who get what we do and who we are. Those in-person connections open doors, form friendships, strategic alliances and future opportunities that no online platform is going to provide for you. Distinguished Speakers

Keynote Speaker: John Wanberg, Industrial Designer and Design Educator

Metropolitan State University Design Professor John Wanberg has worked professionally as a designer and design educator for over 25 years. He holds a masters' degree in Industrial Design from Arizona State University and has helped design and produce a variety of products including medical mobility devices, furniture, professional electronics, consumer products, and electric vehicles. As a full-time professor at MSU, he enjoys helping students visualize and realize their own potential as they work to become creative and productive professional product designers.

Far from an ivory tower scholastic design theorist, John has designed in the trenches, worked at numerous companies, and built many prototypes himself as well as working in concert with professional model makers as part of his design process. He has opinions on model making and the importance of the practice as it pertains to impactful design, both now and in the future.

The APMM is honored to have John as our Keynote speaker for the 2025 Denver conference.

Featured Model Maker: To Be Announced

At every conference, we love to share the story and celebrate the career of a skilled model maker. Every such story comes with valuable, hard-won lessons that every other model maker can benefit from hearing, maybe saving each listener a few hard knocks of their own. While this featured model maker is typically a member of the APMM, this does not necessarily have to be the case, and our ears and eyes are open to possibilities as we seek to find the perfect model maker to showcase at the 2025 conference.
